Inspired by the “A Pathway to Home” Strategy
Surrey is facing a crisis. According to the Pathway to Freedom community strategy, homelessness in the region continues to rise, with growing numbers of people impacted by poverty, substance use, and mental health struggles.
🔍 Key Finding:Community feedback highlighted a critical shortage of low-barrier, supportive shelters. The report urges a shift toward trauma-informed, community-led solutions—like the ones we aim to offer.
At The Welcome Place Society, we echo this call. We believe everyone deserves safe shelter, dignity, and a path forward.
👉 What’s Needed Now:
New shelters with mental health supports
Harm reduction programs
Outreach teams embedded in community
Long-term housing strategies
📣 We’re committed to being part of the solution—but we need support from the public, local government, and funders.
